A former supermarket worker has pleaded guilty to leaving a deer's head on the till of a Tesco store.

James Hyett, of Laws Close, Saffron Walden, Essex, admitted damaging a checkout, one of the aisles and a cleaning machine at the Radwinter Road store in the town in June.

The 33-year-old, who had worked at the shop, was caught on CCTV.

The case at Colchester Magistrates' Court was adjourned for pre-sentence reports.

He will be sentenced on 28 August.

Hyett's lawyer, Elizabeth Bradshaw told the court : "He is very remorseful in relation to this incident. It occurred at what was a very difficult time for him. It is clear there were many factors at work."

She said he was a "gentleman who was not very well at that stage".
