Officers remain on the campus to search the area, which is cordoned off while investigations continue. Police are treating the woman's death as "unexplained".
Initial inquiries have been carried out with the UEA. It is believed all students have been accounted for. The UEA said: "As far as we are able to we have accounted for staff, students and visitors on summer schools and conferences, and we have not been made aware of anybody reported missing."

The man-made lake, known as the UEA Broad, is at the southern edge of the campus and is in an area popular with dog walkers and joggers, but swimming is "strictly prohibited" the university said. Det Ch Insp Dennis Lacey, from Norfolk Police, said due to the "nature of the recovery of the body" officers were unable to ascertain the woman's age or how long she had been in the lake.
