An investigation is under way after a Guernsey aeroplane made an unscheduled landing on a flight to the UK.

The Aurigny flight to Manchester was carrying 57 people.

The captain diverted Monday's flight to Birmingham City Airport following reports of smoke in the passenger cabin. No-one was injured.

Passengers were taken to Manchester by bus. Aurigny engineers are looking into the cause of the fault and hope to have the aircraft operational soon.

People booked on the aeroplane's return flight to Guernsey were put up in a hotel before being flown to the island on Tuesday.
