Scottish separatist group leader Adam Busby to be extradited
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-23514236 Version 0 of 1. Adam Busby, the self-appointed leader of a hard-line Scottish separatist group, is to be extradited from Ireland after a high court ruling. The 64-year-old faces a number of charges, dating from 2009 to 2010, including threats to poison water supplies and bomb bridges. It is also alleged he sent packages containing toxic substances to the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Mr Busby has lived in Ireland for more than 30 years. He described himself as leader of the Scottish National Liberation Army. The Crown Office had applied for a European arrest warrant and for his return to Scotland. At the High Court in Dublin, Mr Busby argued the alleged offences did not take place in the UK, so he should not be extradited. He also claimed that as a resident of Ireland since 1980, it violated his rights under European law to a family life. The judge remanded him in custody, pending his return to Scotland. |
