Royal baby footman returns to India after visa expires
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23507688 Version 0 of 1. A Buckingham Palace footman who played a key role in announcing the birth of Prince George has left his job after his visa expired. Badar Azim, 25 - who grew up in a Calcutta slum - helped display the official birth notice on an easel. He was reportedly trying to renew his UK visa, but is now thought to have gone home to India after his application failed. His family only learned of his role when they saw him in the Indian press. Mr Azim was able to graduate in hospitality management from Napier University in Edinburgh in June 2011 thanks to financial help from St Mary's Orphanage and Day School in Calcutta, where he studied as a boy. He had been working at Buckingham Palace since last year. The palace and the Home Office both said they did not comment on individual cases. |
