Version 0 of 1.

Afghan police say they have arrested three men in connection with the kidnapping of a Bangladeshi aid worker.

The aid worker, Nurul Islam, was taken from his office by gunmen in Logar province on Saturday.

Mr Islam works for the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (Brac) which builds schools and clinics and makes small loans to poor rural people.

The kidnapping comes after a number of high-profile abductions by the Taleban in recent months.

Police said the kidnappers were common criminals.

The Bangladeshi government has appealed for Mr Islam's release.

Another Bangladeshi employee of Brac was shot dead last week in the northern province of Badakhshan.

Meanwhile a German engineer and four Afghan colleagues kidnapped by Taleban militants in July are also still being held hostage.
