Jimmy Tarbuck rebailed over child abuse claim
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-23494429 Version 0 of 1. Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has been rebailed over allegations of child sex abuse. The entertainer and quiz show host, 73, has been questioned about an alleged assault on a young boy in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in the late 1970s. He was arrested in April after information was passed to North Yorkshire Police by Metropolitan Police officers working on Operation Yewtree. He has been rebailed while inquiries into the allegations continue. North Yorkshire Police previously stressed that Mr Tarbuck's arrest was "not part of Yewtree, but a separate investigation" by its own officers. Operation Yewtree was set up following the death of Jimmy Savile in 2011, when hundreds of sex abuse allegations came to light about the former DJ. Liverpool-born Mr Tarbuck has spent more than 50 years in the entertainment industry, beginning his television career in 1964 with the show It's Tarbuck 65! He has been appointed OBE for services to showbusiness and charity. |
