Officers found the body of the 41-year-old, who had been stabbed, after being called to a house in Moston, three miles north-east of the city centre at 10.20pm on Sunday. Less than three hours later, police were called to neighbouring Harpurhey after a man reportedly threatened a car owner with a knife and stole their vehicle. The car was seen by police nearby soon afterwards. When officers approached, a 34-year-old man drove the car into the side of the Alliance pub.
