A whale and dolphin survey is being held along the East Yorkshire coast to gather information to help the conservation of mammals in the area.

Members of the public will help monitor the animals from the shore and at sea in special boats leaving from Bridlington and other ports.

Wildlife experts there had been a lot of recent activity including minke whales spotted off the coast of Filey.

Sea Watch will use the data to create a picture of marine species in waters.

Danielle Gibas from Sea Watch said: "There is still an enormous amount that is not known about the whales, dolphins and porpoises that we see off our coastline."
