Version 0 of 1.

A Shropshire care home's contract has been withdrawn by the council.

Shropshire Council said it had "grave concerns" over standards of care at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Minsterley.

It added it was working with residents' families to provide alternative accommodation to provide "the standard of care they would expect".

Care home owner Manjeet Rai said it had done "so much" to improve care and "worked very hard" with its staff.

Improvement notice

She added: "We have always as a provider safeguarded the best interests for our service users and given them the best care as a good provider.

"We are [an] established company. We have done so much to better the care... We've put [in] so much investment so our service users get the best environment [and] quality of care.... they need to have."

The council said the Care Quality Commission demanded a series of improvements regarding standards of care and staffing after an inspection on 9 April.

It added the authority served the owners with an immediate improvement notice on 9 July, but officers had not been satisfied by the progress made since then.

The council said it does not "take decisions like this lightly" and this action only related to Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, which has 34 residents, and "not any other home owned by Kelly Residential Limited".
