Teenager in court on murder bid charge Teenager charged with murder attempt on friend
(about 3 hours later)
A teenager is expected to appear at court in Lisburn charged with attempted murder. A teenager has been charged with attempting to murder his friend at a house party in Lurgan, County Armagh.
The 18-year-old man is accused of attempting to kill a 23-year-old man in Liscorran Court in Lurgan. Caolan Coleman, 18, of Castle Lane Lurgan, is accused of attempting to murder his friend, Paul Cassidy, 23.
The alleged incident happened on Thursday morning. Mr Cassidy is in a coma in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. He is critically ill but stable.
A 24-year-old man, who was also detained, has been released on bail. A court was told Mr Coleman allegedly attacked his friend with a golf club on Thursday leaving him with serious injuries to his head and face.
A solicitor for the accused told Lisburn Magistrate's Court that both men had been drinking and taking substances and both were "quite out of it" at the time of the alleged attack.
Judge Amanda Henderson said it was clearly a "very serious assault".
Bail was refused.
