Army bomb disposal experts and the police are at the scene of a security alert at a motorway in County Antrim. A security alert on a County Antrim road has been declared an elaborate hoax.
The A8 has been closed in both directions between the M2 at Sandyknowes roundabout and Corr's Corner. Part of the Ballycraigy Road is also closed. The incident was on the A8 road between the Sandyknowes roundabout and Corrs Corner.
It follows a report of a suspicious object in the area. Army bomb disposal experts and the police dealt attended the scene.
A Roads Service spokesman said diversions are in place via Ballyhenry Road and Ballyclare Road. Rush-hour traffic was diverted away from the incident.
