A man has died after a crash involving two cars in Aberdeenshire. A man who died as a result of a crash in Aberdeenshire has been named by police.
Police said the collision happened at about 18:40 on the A980 Alford to Lumphanan Road outside Muir of Fowlis. Darren Lindsay, 23 , from the Alford area, died following the collision which involved a silver Honda Jazz and a blue Peugeot 407.

Officers were carrying out investigations at the scene. The road has been closed between Muir of Fowlis and the junction with the B9119 Aberdeen to Tarland Road. Sgt Chris Whelan, from Police Scotland, said: "This was a tragic incident, resulting in the death of a young driver and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time".
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and would like anyone with information to contact them.
