Counter-terrorism police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Manchester, Rengzeib Ahmed, at Heathrow airport.

Shortly before his arrest, Mr Ahmed's brother told the BBC that his brother had been deported from Pakistan.

He was held under the Terrorism Act 2000, a statement from the Greater Manchester Police terrorism unit said.

He was held "in connection with ongoing investigations and not linked to any threat to the airport or aviation industry," the statement said.

He arrived at Heathrow on a British Airways flight from the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
