A Yorkshire Ambulance spokeswoman said an adult male had been taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and a second adult and two children had been taken to Rotherham District Hospital. Neighbour Sara Knox said: "I looked out and there was all this stuff flying about. The house had no front to it."
She said all four were being treated for minor injuries.
Several roads in the area remain closed.
Ann Jones, manager of the reception centre at Hinde House School, said: "We've got between 40 and 50 people, including children.
"We're using the dining room to be able to cater for people and the school library."
