Eight people have been killed on the Ballybogey Road in just over a year. Five people were killed on the Ballybogey Road last year and two this year.
UUP Councillor Norman Hillis has called for a safety review to be carried out on the road, which he says is a notorious accident blackspot. Police Inspector Stephen McCauley said safety conditions on the road were continually under review.
"Along with our colleagues in the DoE, the police are always looking for ways to improve and make roads safer," he said.
"I know this particular stretch, which I must stress is more than 11 miles long in the Ballybogey Road, is constantly being looked at with a view to improvement."
