Police attending Woolwich 'attack' 'One dead' after Woolwich attack

Police say they are responding to an incident in Woolwich, south east London, amid reports that a man has been attacked. One person has died and two are believed to be seriously injured following a reported knife attack in Woolwich, south-east London.
Scotland Yard said the incident took place in John Wilson Street, at 14:20 BST. BBC home affairs correspondent Matt Prodger said reports suggested a man was attacked in the street by two individuals and this was followed by a police shooting.
London Ambulance Service said one man had been found dead at the scene.
A spokesperson said an air ambulance and four crews attended.
It said one person was airlifted from the scene, and another was taken away by road ambulance.

London Ambulance Service said an air ambulance and four crews were also at the scene. Witnesses reported by the Press Association said two people were shot after armed police were called to an incident in which a man was attacked with a machete-style knife.
A spokesperson could not confirm the number of casualties. Scotland Yard said the incident happened in John Wilson Street at 14:20 BST.

David Dixon, a local head teacher, told the BBC News Channel he walked out of the school gates and saw a body lying in the road a short distance away.
He then heard gunshots and instructed staff to lock all the gates of his school.
The air ambulance landed in the playground and most of the children have now gone home, he said.
