Police appeal after man assaulted in Wolverhampton

A man has suffered "life threatening" head injuries after being assaulted in Wolverhampton city centre.

The 20-year-old was punched to the ground by two men outside the Caspian Kebab House in Broad Street just after 04:00 BST on Friday, police said.

Detectives believe the assault was connected to an earlier incident outside Manders Bar in North Street.

They are appealing for any witnesses to the attack and said they were examining CCTV footage from the area.

Det Sgt Barbara Dale said: "Police enquiries are ongoing into this attack, which appears to be unprovoked.

"It has led to a young man suffering life threatening injuries and we urge anyone with information or who knows the offenders to contact us."
