Two people have been charged with drug trafficking offences after cocaine with a potential street value of £1m was found hidden inside cakes at Gatwick.

A man, aged 29, from West Bromwich and a 22-year-old woman from Bilston, in the West Midlands, were arrested at the airport's south terminal on Thursday.

The Border Force said an estimated 22lb (10kg) of cocaine was found in cakes inside baggage from a Jamaican flight.

The street value of the drugs will be determined after forensic analysis.
