Police officers may have been lured to a bogus burglary in Dunmurry to be attacked, the PSNI has said. Police officers have escaped injury in a gun attack in County Antrim after being called out to a bogus burglary.
Officers responding to a report of a break-in at Foxes Glen, at about 13:00 BST, heard a number of shots. Shots were fired as three officers responded to a report of a break-in at Foxes Glen, off the Stewartstown Road, outside Belfast.
Residents in the area also reported hearing shots. Two men also narrowly escaped injury after their car was struck by the gunfire.
Inquiries have established that the original burglary call was fake. The PSNI crew of one woman and two men have been left badly shaken. The PSNI said one line of inquiry is that the three officers may have been "lured" to the area to be targeted.

The street was busy with children returning from school and playgroups at the time.
In a statement, the PSNI said: "Inquiries have established that the original burglary call was bogus."
