A man has died after a fire which destroyed a house near Stornoway on the isle of Lewis. A man has died after a fire which destroyed a house near Stornoway on the isle of Lewis on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the fire at Point at 0110 BST. Norman MacIver was taken to hospital by ambulance, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The man was taken to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway by ambulance, but was pronounced dead on arrival. His dog also died in the blaze. The 50-year-old was the sole occupant of the house, where emergency services were called at about 0110 BST, although his dog also died in the incident.
Police and the fire service will carry out an investigation to try and establish the cause of the fire, which is not thought to be suspicious. Police said the fire was not thought to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
