France: Concern Over New Virus

French officials said Friday that they are examining three people who came into contact with a man hospitalized with a new respiratory coronavirus related to SARS, to see if they have also contracted the disease. The man, 65, hospitalized in late April, got the disease on a package tour to Dubai. Officials are now examining a nurse at the hospital, a doctor and a former roommate of the man, all of whom are being monitored  by doctors. The concern is how easily the new virus might spread from one person to another. Since the virus emerged last year, 18 people have died worldwide, but the man is so far the only confirmed case in France. He is in serious but stable condition.
