Firefighters said two of those killed were members of the train's crew, Brazilian TV reported. The collision took place near the station in the northern Nova Iguacu suburb.

One of the trains involved was believed to be stationary at the time, a civil defence official, Souza Filho, told Brazil's Globo Television.
Mr Filho said he could not yet estimate of the number of victims, and that the current priority was "to pull people still alive from the coaches".
Local media reported that two of those killed were members of the train's crew, but an official from the train's operator, Supervia, has denied this, reports Reuters news agency.
