A man has been killed in a hit-and-run incident on the outskirts of west Belfast. A man has died after being hit by a car on the outskirts of west Belfast, the police have said.
Twenty-one-year-old Gerard Damien Kane from the Colin Glen area was knocked down by a car on the Colin Glen Road near Dunmurry. Gerard Damien Kane, 21, from the Colin Glen area was hit on Colin Glen Road near Dunmurry at about 0500 BST on Monday. One man has been arrested.
The accident happened at about 0500 BST on Monday morning. The scene was cordoned off and the road closed to traffic for most of the day.
A PSNI spokesman has confirmed that a man has been arrested and is being questioned about the incident after handing himself into police. Police said that initially the accident was being treated as a hit-and-run incident, but someone was now helping with their enquiries.
They have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
