Version 0 of 1.

There is widespread press coverage of the Duchess of Cornwall's decision not to attend the Diana Memorial service.

"Hate mail fury forces Camilla out" says the Sun, claiming the about-turn was because she was sent thousands of hate-mail letters urging her not to go.

The Daily Mail and Daily Mirror say the Duchess of Cornwall pulled out of Friday's service on the Queen's advice.

Prince Charles had insisted Camilla attend, showing he is out of touch with public opinion, the Mail comments.

'Medics' shortage'

"'Lives at risk' as key staff quit the forces", the Daily Telegraph says. The paper claims amid an "alarming shortage of vital staff" more than a third of Army medical posts are vacant.

The Mirror is among papers to picture 37-year-old Sergeant Mark Dobbs and his son Lee, 20, who are fighting alongside each other in Afghanistan.

Under military rules, the men, who both drive tanks, are not allowed to be in the same vehicle to reduce the risk of their both being killed, the paper says.

Darfur suffering

The Independent leads with an exclusive report by Mia Farrow after her seventh trip to see the suffering in Darfur.

She says it is incomprehensible that nothing has been done to protect the millions of people caught up in the Sudanese genocide.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times says Saudi Arabia is setting up a 35,000-strong security force to guard its oil installations.

This is amid possible al-Qaeda attacks and the threat of mounting tension between the US and Iran, the FT says.

Prisons plan

The Times says thousands of inmates in England and Wales will be put in flats and homes to ease prison overcrowding.

It says a firm has an £18m contract to accommodate low-risk suspects awaiting trial or sentence held in prison because they have no fixed address.

Elsewhere, the Daily Express says historic buildings can boost admissions by being featured on a film or on TV.

It says admissions to Alnwick Castle in Northumberland are up 120% since it appeared in the Harry Potter films.
