The gunman is reported to be 60 years old and was named only as "Ljubisa B". Police identified the gunman as Ljubisa Bogdanovic, a 60-year-old war veteran.
Police say the attack took place in Velika Ivanca, about 50km (30 miles) south-east of the capital. The victims were reported to be mainly relatives and neighbours of Bogdanovic, and included his mother and son.
