Police said the woman was found near the Radyr footbridge between junctions 32 and 33 at 0030 BST on Sunday. She is thought to have left friends and caught a taxi back to the area - where she was from - after a night out in the city centre. Investigating officers said they did not believe anyone else was involved in her death and appealed for information. The M4 was closed for a number of hours while officers examined the scene. I must stress that the taxi driver is not suspected of any wrongdoing - we simply need to determine the young woman's movements Acting Det Insp Mark Vaughan Acting Det Insp Mark Vaughan said they wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Radyr footbridge from 1130 BST to 0030 BST who may have seen her. She was described as white, and wearing a turquoise top and dark jeans. Acting Det Insp Vaughan said: "We are keeping an open mind about the cause of this young woman's death but at this stage we do not believe a third party was involved. "We would particularly like to speak to the taxi driver who picked her up from the city centre on St Mary Street near Edward's Bar. "I must stress that the taxi driver is not suspected of any wrongdoing - we simply need to determine the young woman's movements such as what time she was dropped off and where." A post mortem examination is being carried out on Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call Fairwater CID on 029 2052 8011. |
