Version 0 of 1.

Police investigating a shooting in which two brothers were injured are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a white transit van.

The brothers, aged 46 and 47, are believed to be the victims of mistaken identity.

Police said four people were involved in the attack in the Tredworth area of Gloucester.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have seen the Ford Transit van with registration number MV52 ZZN.

Attackers fired shots through the front door of a house in Falkner Street at about 04:15 BST on Tuesday.

'Extremely frightened'

Det Ch Insp David Sellwood, of Gloucestershire Police, said: "Our inquiries have identified that four people were almost certainly involved.

"They travelled to the location in a white transit van and we are now appealing for the public's help to find that transit van.

"We know that they parked in a nearby road, walked to the street and probably three people approached the premises and knocked on the door.

"The victim opened the door, didn't see anybody and closed the door and then shots were fired through the door injuring the two occupants of the house."

The 46-year-old has serious arm injuries and remains in hospital, while the older brother has been discharged.

Officers said the shooting is connected to a criminal dispute between two individuals and the brothers had been "incredibly unfortunate" to become embroiled in it.

"They are both extremely frightened by what has happened even though we have been able to reassure them this has absolutely nothing to do with them," Mr Sellwood said.

"I think that the attackers have been misinformed and have simply gone to the wrong premises and carried out this shooting."

Police said they had put in protection measures for the people they believe were the intended target.
