A police officer has been injured in an incident in west Belfast overnight. A police officer has sustained chest injuries in an incident involving a stolen car in west Belfast.
He was hurt while responding to reports of vehicles being driven erratically in the car park of the Suffolk Inn on the Suffolk Road. It is understood he was crushed against another vehicle when he tried to open the door of the stolen car.
It is understood the officer tried to open a car door but was crushed against another vehicle. It happened in the Suffolk Inn car park on Suffolk Road at about 03:10 BST. Two men aged 27 and 19, have been arrested.
He has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for chest injuries. The area has been sealed off as police carry out a follow-up operation. The officer was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Hijacking
A PSNI spokesman said a silver Renault Megane, which is believed to have been stolen, failed to stop for police on the Andersonstown Road at about 02:50 BST.
The officer was hurt about 20 minutes later, when the vehicle was located on the Suffolk Road.
Police said they believe the incident is linked to an earlier hijacking of a red Vauxhall Corsa in west Belfast.
The PSNI spokesman said that about 02:10 GMT, a motorist driving the Corsa slowed down to check on a man who was lying on the ground on Locan Street.
As he did so, he was forced out of his car and two men got into his vehicle and drove off towards Beechmount Avenue.
The stolen Corsa was later recovered in the Hannahstown Hill area.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about either incident to contact them.
