Four in court over M40 shooting

Gerry Tobin, 35, of south London, died as he rode home from a biker festival in Warwickshire on 12 August. Three of those men have been charged with murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and one other firearms offence. A fourth man also appeared at Nuneaton Magistrates Court on Saturday morning charged with a firearms offence. The first three are Simon John Turner, 40, of Vernons Lane, Stockingford, Nuneaton; Dane Randal Garside, 31, of Silverdale Close, Alderman's Green, Coventry; and Sean Adrian Creighton, 43, of Doncaster Close, Coventry. Bikers' festival The man charged with a firearms offence is Dean Anthony Taylor, 45, of Warwick Street, Coventry. All four were remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on 3 September. There was no application for bail. Mr Tobin, who grew up in Canada but had been living in the UK for 10 years, died after leaving the Bulldog Bash bikers' festival, held at Long Marston airfield, near Stratford-upon-Avon. He had worked as a mechanic at a Harley-Davidson dealership in Mottingham and lived nearby with his girlfriend, Rebecca Smith, 25. |
