Version 0 of 1.

At least three people have been killed in a bomb attack on a police convoy in southern Afghanistan, officials said.

They said the dead were all civilians who had been walking along the roadside near the convoy in Helmand province near the town of Gereshk.

The provincial police chief, who was in the convoy, was not injured.

Local officials have blamed the attack on the Taleban, who are waging an increasingly bloody insurgency in southern Afghanistan.

At least 13 people were injured in the attack, and around five of those are in a critical condition, they said.

Officials said that on Wednesday night, two Canadian soldiers and their Afghan translator were killed by a roadside bomb in the southern province of Kandahar.

Two journalists travelling with them were also injured in the overnight attack.
