NI roads closed because of weather conditions G8 summit traffic and travel

A number of roads throughout Northern Ireland have been closed because of the weather conditions. Roads
Roads Service said heavy snow accumulations have particularly affected the north east, with drifting of up to 15in (40cm) reported. Enniskillen: There is already restricted access to roads in the town centre, including Queen Elizabeth Road, West Bridge and Castle Bridge. Other diversions have been in place from Monday 17 June to manage traffic around Enniskillen during the event.
Police are advising motorists not to travel on roads affected by snow unless absolutely necessary. Drivers travelling to County Donegal from the east are advised to travel by Omagh and Kesh. A diversion will be in place at the Ballygawley roundabout. At Maguiresbridge, drivers heading to Belleek will be advised to divert via Derrylin to avoid Enniskillen. And drivers heading from Enniskillen to Belleek will be advised to divert via Belcoo and Garrison.

Irish Republic: There are no road closures or diversions but police have advised people travelling in south Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan that there may be vehicle security checks on roads leading to the Lough Erne Resort and to expect delays.
In addition to the travel warnings, a spokesman for the Roads Service said abandoned vehicles were hampering the snow clearing operation in urban areas. Bus and rail travel:
He appealed to motorists to remove abandoned cars from carriageways. Bus services in Enniskillen have been subject to changes since 10 June and this will continue until 21 June. Most services leaving before 09:00 are leaving 30 minutes earlier than usual.
Derry Council area: Minor roads at Park Village County Londonderry blocked by snow drifts up to 4ft deep. Other services from estates within Enniskillen that serve schools are running normally but passengers should be aware that delays are likely because of increased traffic in the town.
C507 Highmoor Road, Eglinton; U1101 Baloughry Hill Road, Killea; C514 Bonds Glen Road, Claudy. Anyone travelling to any of the airports by bus can expect delays to their journey and anyone with a ticket for a timetabled Translink airport service should be aware that Translink says arrival times will be "approximate".
Newry and Mourne Council area: Mound Road, Warenpoint closed due to flood damaged structure, Air travel: June is a busy month at the airports but increased security and the increased number of passengers is expected to cause extra delays for those trying to get into the airports.
Belfast International airport: More people will be travelling through both the International and City airports than normal but more disruption is expected at the International airport.
Vehicle checkpoints are already in place on the roads around the airport.
This is causing delays especially in Antrim, Crumlin and Templepatrick.
An International airport spokesperson said: "It's business as usual, we will be fully operational and our car parks will be open as normal.
"We would however advise all our passengers to allow extra time when journeying to the airport and this starts from Friday 14 June right through until 19 June, Wednesday.
"Allow even more time than you think you might need and keep checking for updates."
George Best City airport: The airport is operating as normal but increased security means delays are possible. Again, the advice is to leave extra time to get to the airport.
Dublin airport: Some disruption is expected at Dublin airport. If you are catching a flight from Dublin, be prepared for lengthier check-in times and leave earlier than you would leave under normal circumstances.
Airspace restrictions: Police have advised that there will be a number of a number of airspace security restrictions from Sunday 16 June - Tuesday 18 June.
Three areas will be affected by the air exclusion zone.
Area A around Lough Erne - 1700Z to 2259Z 16 June to 18 June (1800 to 2359).
Area B - The Corridor - 1300Z to 2259Z on 18 June (1400 to 2359 ).
Area C- Around Belfast - 1300Z to 2259Z on 18 June (1400 to 2359).

Marine plan: Part of Lough Erne will be closed as the PSNI will have active boat patrols in place. The closure will be from the lock gates at Portora to an area north of the venue adjacent to Ross Point and it will be in place from lunchtime on Sunday 16 until Tuesday night 18 June.
