A man with a crossbow is at the centre of an armed siege in Greater Manchester, police said. A man has been arrested after an armed siege at a house in Greater Manchester.

Police said the 31-year-old made threats towards them with the weapon. A police cordon has been put in place. The scene was cordoned off while police negotiators worked to bring the man out safely.
Negotiators were at the scene trying to "bring a safe end to the incident", police said. It is not believed anyone is being held hostage. Police said a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and threats to kill and remained in police custody.
Supt Simon Retford said: "We do not believe that anyone in the address is there under duress, but our priority at the moment is to ensure that we reach a peaceful conclusion to this incident, and that this man gets the appropriate support he needs from our partner agencies. It was not believed anyone was being held hostage.
"I would reassure the local community not to be overly alarmed by what is happening as highly trained officers are currently dealing with this incident." Supt Simon Retford said: "First and foremost I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding.
He added: "Officers have been on the ground to offer reassurance to local people." "This was an incident which required a highly sensitive response and it is inevitable that took some time.
"The man in question will get all of the support he needs and we continue to work with our partners to progress this."
