Missing boy's body found in river

The body of a 14-year-old has been found in a river in Ayrshire, police have confirmed.

Dean McGregor was last seen entering the River Annick near the village of Stewarton at 1730 BST on Saturday.

The alarm was raised and a search involving a Royal Navy helicopter, coastguards and police was launched.

No trace of Dean, from Stewarton, was found on Saturday, but when searchers resumed on Sunday they found his body at about 2020 BST.

The youngster's family has been informed and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
