Version 0 of 1.

A 29-year-old woman and a man aged 31 arrested over the attempted abduction of a baby in Greater Manchester have been released without charge.

No further action will be taken against the pair from Skelmersdale, Lancashire, after a couple tried to snatch the child from a pram.

Jazmine Sawyer, aged four months, was targeted as she was pushed along Wigan Road, Leigh, by her mother Victoria.

Mrs Sawyer fought off the abductors when they struck on 12 August.

Witness appeal

The attack took place when the 30-year-old care worker from Leigh, was on a pelican crossing near the junction of Hulme Road and Wigan Road.

The female attacker shouted "get the baby, get the baby" as they pounced, said police.

Mrs Sawyer managed to punch the woman in the face and the pair fled.

Both mother and child were unhurt in the ordeal, but police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
