Charges against a Yorkshire theme park boss accused of assault in a row over ticket touting have been dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence.

Flamingo Land chief executive Gordon Gibb, 36, had been accused of attacking a man selling two-for-one tickets outside the North Yorkshire attraction.

Mr Gibb had denied assault by beating and was due to stand trial at Scarborough Magistrates' Court.

The case was dropped after witnesses failed to turn up.

Magistrates were told the case had been repeatedly adjourned because witnesses for the prosecution had failed to appear.

When the magistrates refused to adjourn the case any longer the prosecution said they would not pursue the matter.

Mr Gibb is a former chairman of Bradford City football club and its ground, Valley Parade, is owned by his pension fund.

His father, Robert Gibb, a former professional footballer, set up the theme park and later bought it from the company which ran it so he could develop the attraction.
