Comedian Jay Foreman swearing CD sold at kids show

A comedian has apologised for selling CDs which feature swearing and sexual references at a show for children.

Jay Foreman sold the CDs at Ipswich's New Wolsey Theatre, where he played a show for under-12s on Sunday.

He said he was "mortified" when he heard the 20 Song album was sold rather than a "child friendly CD".

A spokesperson for the New Wolsey said a customer returned to the theatre on Sunday night to complain.

'Apologise unreservedly'

About 250 people had watched the show but the theatre did not know how many had bought the album.

"I'm really upset about the whole thing," Mr Foreman said in a statement.

"I want to make it absolutely clear that I do not think it is appropriate for children to listen to, and I really regret not checking my merchandise properly before selling it at a gig for children."

"I want to apologise unreservedly to all the parents and children."

He has offered a refund and a free copy of the child-friendly CD to anyone who bought the album on Sunday.

On Twitter, @SuffolkRam posted a comment saying they had listened to the CD with their 11-year-old son on the way home from the show.

"We skipped through the tracks, the reference to what you do to your own reflection in one song was the last straw!" the tweet read.

Sarah Holmes, New Wolsey chief executive, said every customer was called on Monday to be warned of the CD's content.

"We have asked those who purchased CDs to contact the theatre to arrange a refund and to give us an opportunity to apologise directly," she said.
