MK Dons FA Cup game 'racist gesture' probe

A spectator, alleged to have made a racist gesture during Milton Keynes Don's FA Cup fifth round tie, has been interviewed by police. The football club said a man was questioned by officers and ejected from stadium:mk during the Dons' 3-1 defeat to Barnsley on Saturday. Police said the man and alleged victim were interviewed after the incident was reported by a third party. A spokeswoman for MK Dons said it was "monitoring footage". Thames Valley Police said the the incident "is still under investigation". A spokesperson said: "[We] will always thoroughly investigate allegations of offences of this nature and anyone who has suffered or witnessed such an offence is asked to contact the police." In a statement issued immediately after the match, Milton Keynes Dons Football Club said there was "no evidence to suggest the alleged gesture was of a racist nature". A statement read: "MK Dons will continue to monitor footage of the area where the alleged incident took place." On Monday, a spokeswoman said the club would continue to assist the police and it would be "inappropriate to comment further at this time". |
