Father appeals over missing Stirling student David O'Halloran | Father appeals over missing Stirling student David O'Halloran |
(about 1 hour later) | |
The father of a missing Stirling student has made an emotional appeal for the public's help in finding his son.
David O'Halloran, 18, was last seen in Bridge of Allan in the early hours of the morning on 18 January after a night out in Stirling.
Police said they had carried out extensive searches but found no trace of the teenager.
His father, Alan McInnes, said he was convinced that David was still alive.
During a police press conference, Mr McInnes made a direct appeal to his son to get in touch.
He said: "David, son. If you can see or hear this; please know that we miss you, we love you, and we all need you home. Our family is incomplete without you."
Mr McInnes said: "David has been missing for a month, and every day we hope that he's found safe. We remain 100% sure he is alive and hope that somebody has seen him, or knows where he is.
"Too many people have said he's no longer with us. We have to remain focused that he is alive, and for whatever reason he cannot come home.
"We are looking for a person, and not a body. We will continue to believe this until we are told otherwise by the police."
Mr McInnes urged anyone who had seen his son to come forward and give the information to the police.
He said: "If you have seen David, please, please, let the police know. We need the public's help."
Renewed appeal | |
The teenager is a first year student at Stirling University studying mathematics and education, and lives in student accommodation close to the campus.
He had been on a night out with friends in Stirling, and had returned to the campus in a taxi just before 01:00.
The last confirmed sighting was on CCTV which showed him crossing Henderson Street in Bridge of Allan, heading in the direction of the Keir Roundabout, at about 02:20 on Friday 18 January.
Ch Insp Gordon Dawson, of Central Scotland Police, renewed his appeal for the public's help in tracing David.
David is described as being 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and has brown hair, with blond highlights, which is short at the back and longer on top. | David is described as being 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and has brown hair, with blond highlights, which is short at the back and longer on top. |
