Caister-on-Sea deaths: Barry and Jean Ellis's bodies found in home Caister-on-Sea deaths: Barry and Jean Ellis's bodies found in home
(about 2 hours later)
A man and a woman thought to be in their 70s have been found dead in a bungalow in Norfolk. A window cleaner who found the bodies of an elderly couple in a Norfolk bungalow said they "hadn't been seen for days".
The bodies of Barry and Jean Ellis were discovered when police forced their way into their home in Caister-on-Sea on Tuesday. Roy Holland, 39, called police on Tuesday lunchtime after discovering Barry and Jean Ellis at their home in Upper Grange Crescent, Caister-on-Sea.
Norfolk Police said officers were sent to the house in Upper Grange Crescent after a window cleaner raised concerns about the occupants' safety. Police said the deaths were unexplained and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.
Post-mortem examinations are due to take place later.Post-mortem examinations are due to take place later.
Neighbour Paul Belsten said: "We're all shocked. The missus told me two elderly people inside had been found dead by what she believes was the window cleaner. Mr Holland, who has cleaned the couple's windows for more than 10 years, said: "It was quite a shock. It's not something which you like to see - it's a thought that won't got away for quite a while.
"The window cleaner had noticed several bottles of milk outside and informed the police." 'Sitting in the chair'
"You get to know your customers and if they are in or out. Both cars were in the drive.
"There were six pints of milk on the doorstep and the neighbours said they hadn't seen them for days.
"I then decided to take a look through the window and saw the gentleman sitting in the chair. They never went anywhere without each other so if the gentleman was in, it was likely his wife was at home too."
Mr Holland said Barry Ellis had worked on a gentleman's clothing stall on Great Yarmouth Market.
Det Insp Sarah Pettengell said: "Whilst the deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with them.Det Insp Sarah Pettengell said: "Whilst the deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with them.
