Version 0 of 1.

The death of a woman whose body was found in her car on her own driveway is being treated as murder, police said.

It is thought the 53-year-old, who has not been named, was attacked as she left for work at about 0820 BST.

Officers said the woman had suffered serious injuries. Police were called to the scene outside the property in Dartford by the woman's family.

Teynham Road, a residential cul-de-sac, has been cordoned off by Kent Police, and forensic teams are at the scene.

Patrols stepped up

The car, a silver Toyota Avensis, has been moved to a secure location where it is being examined.

House-to-house inquiries are under way and high-visibility patrols have been stepped up in the town, police said.

Det Ch Insp Anne Brittain said the body was taken by ambulance to Darent Valley Hospital and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on Wednesday.

She said an incident room had been set up.

She urged anyone "who saw anything untoward or anyone acting suspiciously in the area", particularly when the woman would have been setting off for work, to contact police.
