More arrests over father's death

Three more teenagers have been arrested over the murder of a 47-year-old man who died after approaching a group of youths in Warrington, Cheshire.

Two 18-year-old youths and a boy aged 16 were arrested on Tuesday after Garry Newlove was injured near his home in Station Road North on Friday night.

The father-of-three was taken to hospital but died on Sunday afternoon.

Three boys, two aged 15 and one aged 16, have already been charged with Mr Newlove's murder.

They appeared before magistrates in Runcorn on Tuesday and were remanded to appear at Warrington Youth Court on 20 August.

Blow to head

The latest arrests brings the number of youths being questioned, but not charged, to four as an 18-year-old who was arrested on Monday also remains in police custody.

Police have previously released six other youths.

According to friends, Mr Newlove was married to Helen and the couple have three daughters - Zoe, aged about 19, Danielle, 16, and Amy, who is thought to be 12.

Mr Newlove was said to have been working as a sales manager for a plastics company.

A post-mortem examination showed he died as a result of a haemorrhage caused by a hard blow near his left ear.
