Prince Harry got a hero's welcome – but he'll be under fire again soon
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013/jan/27/prince-harry-heros-welcome-from-press Version 0 of 1. Home (or almost home) is the hero to a oleaginous welcome from Nicholas Witchell and assorted royal correspondents. Hey! Prince Harry may say the press writes "rubbish" and behaves unacceptably when he cavorts naked in Las Vegas bedrooms, but he's spent nearly five months in Helmand and deserves a certain reverence – which is duly delivered, even by those he's slagging off. A masterly PR coup for the palace? Don't believe it. Newspapers, for good or ill, tend to remember the slights inflicted on them, and to reckon there's always a payback. That might be deplorable, but it's also life (on the Daily Mirror already, as it happens) – as the hero of "playing hard" may come to realise the next, inevitable, time he's out and about and his spinners have stayed at home. |
