Wales is facing a sixth day of likely disruption due to heavy snow after the Met Office issued an amber "be prepared" weather warning. There are warnings of hazardous driving conditions on many main roads in south Wales following heavy snow overnight.

BBC Wales meteorologist Derek Brockway said on Tuesday evening: "There is a Met Office amber warning meaning be prepared covering parts of south and south east Wales in force until 09:00 GMT on Wednesday. The Bwlch, Rhigios, and Maerdy mountain roads in Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Caerphilly mountain road are closed due to snowfall.
"About 2-5cm (1-2in) of fresh snow is likely with 10cm (4in) or more possible in places, especially on higher ground. The Black Mountains could get 15cm (6in)." Bad conditions are also reported across much of Rhondda Cynon Taf as well as on the A465 Heads Of The Valleys road.
He said more sleet and snow were expected to spread into mid Wales and the north east into Wednesday. There is currently a Met Office amber warning - meaning be prepared - covering parts of south and south east Wales, which will remain in force until 09:00 GMT on Wednesday.
There will be some significant snow, but parts of the west and northwest will stay dry, he added. The Met Office said more sleet and snow are expected to spread into mid Wales and the north east.
