Body of ferry jumper Jordan Cobb, 16, named at inquest
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21141335 Version 0 of 1. A body recovered from a river between Plymouth and Cornwall has been formally identified as that of a teenager who jumped from a ferry on New Year's Eve. Jordan Cobb, 16, from Plymouth, jumped into the River Tamar from the Torpoint ferry, near the Cornish shore. His body was recovered last Wednesday, but only formally indentified at a coroner's hearing in Plymouth on Tuesday which was adjourned. A police investigation into his death was ongoing, the coroner's office said. '£100 bet' Jordan was with friends on board the ferry when he leapt from the vessel. He was seen on CCTV jumping from the ferry at about 21:15 GMT on New Year's Eve, but he did not re-surface. Searches involving the police, coastguard and the MoD were carried out, focusing on the river, the river bed and the shore. Police said one line of inquiry was that he might have leapt over for a £100 bet. Torpoint ferries are pulled across the River Tamar on chains and are an important travel link between Plymouth, Devon and Torpoint in Cornwall. |
