Do your online activities define you?

Version 0 of 1.

In the future, our identities will increasingly be defined online, according to a new report.

The study, published by the government's chief scientist, Prof John Beddington, argues that the internet will significantly alter the way we see ourselves over the next 10 years.

"One likely development is that the increasingly networked state of many people's lives could blur the boundaries between online and offline identities," it says. "One of the most significant observations of the impact of online identities is that some individuals feel they have only achieved their 'true' identity for [the] first time online."

To what extent do you think your identity is defined by what you do online? Are you a Redditor, as well as a carer? A Cif-er as much as you're a doctor? A World of Warcraft druid who does a spot of teaching during the day? Or do you think people's identities will always be more strongly linked to what they do in the real world?
