Three climbers are missing after an avalanche in Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. Four people are feared dead after an avalanche in Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands, BBC Scotland has learned.
A party of five climbers are believed to have been caught up in the avalanche in an area known as Bidean Nam Bian, at about 14:00. A party of six climbers, three men and three women, were caught up in the avalanche on Bidean Nam Bian, at about 14:00 GMT.
Police said Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team was searching for three people. Police said searchers had located everyone but would not give further information on their condition.
They said one male climber was safe and a female climber with serious injuries had been found and taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William. It is known one male member of the party raised the alarm. One woman is in a serious condition in hospital.
The leader of Glencoe Mountain Rescue, John Grieve, who is currently in Spain, said he believed there had been fatalities.
