One person has died and five others injured on the A14 near Cambridge. | |
Police said three lorries and a car crashed on the westbound side between junctions 36 and 35 shortly after 07:00 GMT. | |
One person in the car died at the scene and another in the vehicle was taken to hospital. Ambulance crews said their condition was not life-threatening. | |
The westbound carriageway will be closed for several hours and one lane is shut eastbound, police said. | |
The crash has caused long delays, with westbound traffic being diverted along the A11. | |
The drivers of the three lorries involved in the crash were checked by paramedics at the scene, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said. | |
Sgt Gordon Murray from Cambridgeshire Police said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or any of the vehicles prior to it. | |
"We're particularly keen on hearing from anyone who saw any vehicle stopped or broken down on the slip road to the junction with the A1303." |
