A former darts player has appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting an underage girl during a tournament in Blackpool 14 years ago.

Kevin Spiolek, 50, is charged with two counts of indecent assault against the girl, aged under 16, during the World Matchplay event in July 1999.

Mr Spiolek, of Water Lane, Oakington, Cambridge, appeared at Blackpool Magistrates' Court.

His case was committed to Preston Crown Court for Thursday 31 January.

Mr Spiolek was a regular on the darts circuit in the late 1980s and 1990s and knocked multiple world champion Phil Taylor out in the second round of the 1993 World Darts Championship.
