The Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that it hoped the nomination of Chuck Hagel to be the United States defense secretary would lead to ”practical changes” in Washington’s foreign policy. “We hope there will be practical changes in American foreign policy and that Washington becomes respectful of the rights of nations,” a ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, said at his weekly news conference, Iran’s IRIB news site reported. He was answering a question about Mr. Hagel’s views on Israel and American sanctions on Iran.
